This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every day our students enter our class, open their books and begin reading for ten minutes straight. We conference with students to hear their thoughts about their books. More importantly, we read for the sake and joy of reading. No tasks or assignments burden our student's enjoyment of their books.
As the year progresses, students are asking for more titles and books that they are interested in.
These books were chosen by our students and are at the top of their wishlists. So many times, we have had to ask them to put their books away while we work on our lessons, and it secretly makes our hearts smile. This is what a culture of reading looks like.
Our students are reading more and more books and it is incumbent on us to provide engaging and diverse books that will capture and keep their attention. Your donation will help us continue with that mission.
