it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Focus is a large issue in my classroom. I have students struggling with various things from ADHD to the side effects of shaken baby syndrome. My students come from low income families, and do not have the resources outside of school to help with their focus. Every day they come in to school, sit on hard chairs, and have to focus on situations that any person would find difficult. They struggle to sit still, causing them to be unable to focus, and distracting the other students in the room.
Every child in my room has the desire to learn.
Now I want to give them the resources they need to be able to learn.
My Project
My students have different factors that make it difficult for them to remain seated; from ADHD to the effects of shaken baby syndrome. They want to be up and moving around, but when they are they can't focus, and they distract other students in the class as well. By using stability balls, students would be able to wiggle and move freely, within the realistic restrictions of their desk space. This will allow the students to be able to move, wiggle, and get their excess energy out, but also be able to focus at the same time, without having to get up and wander around the classroom.
