Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are members of the most diverse charter school in the city of Houston. We are 87% Hispanic, 47% Emerging Bilingual, and 80% Free and Reduced Lunch.
I teach a fun and focused group of kids who are eager to be on the path towards graduation.
My Project
Our students are prepping to take the End of Course Exam for English 1 and English 2. Students in Texas must pass these tests to graduate.
The Apple watch will act as the carrot to keep kids working towards their graduation goals.
COVID closures has made these exams even harder. From missing school, to online only testing, our students have had every barrier thrown in their way. To increase enthusiasm and reward hard work, they need a strong reward. An Apple watch was an easy pick to reward our hardest working kiddos!
