My project needs 25 copies of "How to Eat Fried Worms"; and materials to start a worm composting program.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. M.'s classroom raised $377
This project is fully funded
As part of a science and literature unit, the class will establish a worm bin to observe, research, and use worm composting. We will read "How to Eat Fried Worms" as a literature unit. Along with the reading, the students will learn about the worm, its anatomy, its usefulness, and how to apply it to their own environment. My fourth graders are already excited about the book, but we need a compost bin and worms. Several kits are available on line that will make this project much easier to implement.
This is an excellent way to teach them life science concepts while helping them learn some effective ways to use science to improve the world around them. My hope is that the project will be successful enough to expand to the point that we begin composting cafeteria waste.
Thank you for your consideration!
