it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are growing up in South Florida surrounded and curious about everything and anything that has to do with technology. More than ninety percent of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch. The students in my class feel comfortable in our bilingual classroom. They are excited about learning and even more excited about coming to school during the pandemic.
The students in my class love to have conversations about how they can help others in our community.
They are compassionate and kind to one another. Together we are a true school family.
My Project
This school year as a teacher I have been very focused on reading, writing, and mathematics during distant learning and physical learning but I have also been focused on the emotional toll the pandemic has had on my student's lives and our school community. The students are craving creativity time and ways to express themselves. Feelings don't always come to the surface easily but amazingly, students will share their feelings through art. The paintings they create will be sprinkled among other students, staff members or people from our community that may need kindness.
I’m asking for art supplies that my students can use to create their own works of art to express their feelings and share them with others in random acts of kindness.
Students will paint different hearts and then give them to someone they think needs a little kindness.
These tools will not only be used as a social-emotional expression but also for their creative side to shine through. Students are really struggling with how to express what they are feeling during COVID. Art will be used as a way to express all those feelings that have been building up. I can’t wait to provide these resources for my kiddos.
