My Students
Studying Shakespeare is a right of passage for every English student at some point in their educational career. We hope to ensure that our 7th graders first exposure to Shakespeare is a positive and enjoyable one!
Our school is truly a melting pot.
We have over 300 students in the 7th grade and they encompass a variety of races, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities. No matter their background we try to ensure that they all have equal opportunities for success by providing rigorous, meaningful and relevant lessons.
My Project
The final unit for our school year involves the reading and performing of scenes from Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night". We want to expand on this unit by having the students read the play in its entirety as well as watch several film versions to compare them.
These materials will be used across all the 7th grade English classes at our school, from English Language Learners to the honors English classes. The use of "No Fear Shakespeare" and various movie versions will ensure that the material is accessible for students of all ability levels
These materials will be the first introduction to Shakespeare for many of our students.
Hopefully it will instill in them a love of Shakespeare and theater that will ensure their success as they continue their English studies in the years to come.
