This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 2nd graders are loving springtime this year! We have been reading and writing about plants, insects and weather. A fun part of our learning comes from Scholastic magazines. We use all the print and digital resources that come with every issue. They provide so much information for students to engage with and absorb into their curious minds.

As we spring forward towards the end of this school year, I would love to be able to provide these wonderful Scholastic resources for my incoming 2nd graders in September.

Unfortunately, our budget for supplies seems to shrink every year. Spring is the time when we plan and prepare for the next school year. Students learn better when they have routines and materials that help them stay organized. The money in our budget for next year will only cover basic supplies like crayons, pencils and glue sticks.

My classroom needs a refresh on some of our storage and organization materials. I know this will benefit my students by helping them to keep everything in place. Folders keep their writing work in order so they can focus on being creative instead of searching for missing pages. The mail center keeps home and school connected by making sure parents are able to see and hear about all the amazing work that their kids are doing.

All of these supplies and resources will help us continue to "spring forward" now and into next year!
