This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
My classes consist of amazing students.
The large majority of my students are limited English speaking, English Language Learners, receive resource services, or are dyslexic. About 70% are socioeconomically disadvantaged so getting supplies for school is not easy.
They all have think win-win attitudes and do their personal best to contribute to our classroom community.
My Project
Working with at-risk students requires being extra prepared. I try very hard to have supplies for most every situation, such as feminine products, healthy snacks for students who don't have a lunch, pencils / pens they can keep, etc.
I've asked for supplies for next year, such as healthy snacks if they don't have money to eat, labels to label desks and student materials, tissues for the classroom, and bottles of water.
Often, these snacks are given to student who are hungry but don't have money to buy things in the cafeteria, or as incentives for a job well done.
