My Students
I teach beginning band in three K-5 elementary schools that pull from a variety of populations. I have several bands of energetic, curious, and adventurous elementary school students. They are always looking for something new and big to do and learn. They feel safe in my classroom, they trust me, and they know that I deeply care for them.
Our district has a long-standing tradition of strong music programs.
The foundation starts at the elementary schools. I have the fortunate opportunity to work at three of those schools. Teaching young students how to start a musical instrument is a gift to me. Seeing that spark when they make their first sounds, watching them learn to play their favorite tune, and helping them develop a life-long love for music is such a thrill!
My Project
Here we go! Springtime is here and my schools are in full swing. We are gearing up for our first full concert in two years! We are finding that we need a few percussion items at one of my three schools. I was always able to borrow instruments for my smaller school, but we now find that each program needs their own equipment.
I had more kids sign up for band than I anticipated... great problem to have!
With more kids coming back to 4th and 5th Grade Band this year, the need for more instruments and accessories has become more apparent. We have a new drum set that needs a few remaining essential parts, like a bass drum pedal and spare drumheads. We are also in need of a few accessory percussion instruments. My students think these are so cool to play, and they are! We greatly appreciate our Donors Choose friends! Thank you for your support.
