This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have some of the best students even though they face many obstacles. Our campus is a Title I bilingual campus with over 80% of our students classified as economically disadvantaged. They deserve every opportunity to succeed and to be engaged in every part of their learning.

Student engagement is one of the many keys to us reaching our students and helping them fit into the ever-changing world they live in.

Our classrooms of today cannot continue to look like our classrooms of the past if we want our students to be problem solvers and use all the skills they need to be successful in the world they live in. Our spaces should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. We need to provide our students with choices so that they can be successful in their educational endeavors.

My Project

We have some tools for force and motion, but this is a hard concept for students to grasp sometimes so what better way to explain this skill than to get to play with catapults and how force works. These kits will give our students the opportunity to learn with manipulatives and experiment with spatial reasoning and planning skills. Using these kits, they can test different angles and leverage points and redesign their catapult for maximum impact. Our students will put kinetic and potential energy into action with these hands on kits.
