My Students

Our school is in a health and nutrition school in a city district of New York. The school serves grades pre-kindergarten through third grade students. We are a tight-knit school where the students love to be in school. The students need fun and engaging activities to foster their love of learning at a young age. Within our learning space, we need to make sure that it stays clean so that we can stay focused on our learning.

Just like everyone else, my students love a warm, welcoming environment.

While many of our students lack the opportunity to make their own choices outside of school, often having to attend after-school or Saturday programs because of the work schedules of their caretakers. Many of my students come from immigrant homes where English is not the first language. This has not hindered their enthusiasm and curiosities. They have questions and ideas but are always in need of resources for inspiration and reference.

My Project

Every day, we always have some students that eat breakfast in the classroom. After all, an empty belly can't focus on learning. At the same time, as much as they love to eat, they inevitably get crumbs - everywhere. Crumbs falls, get crushed, and dragged around the school and into the carpet through our soles. It's not a pretty picture.

As much as my students love to clean up, their ability to clean up after themselves does not rival their enthusiasm.

We need an iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner and paper towels so that we can keep our room clean, germ-free, and pest-free. Having a clean room will help us stay focused on our lessons and learning.

When my students think of technology, their mind automatically associates it with a tablet. Through this, they will be able to observe how technology can help us in our every day lives.
