My Students
Every student in my classroom deserves only the best every day in school. The boys and girls come to fourth grade every day full of energy and curiosity. They are ambitious, smart, and committed.
Our neighborhood school is 60 years old but it is young at heart!
Inside its brick walls kids happily research and write, confer and collaborate. These are urban students who walk to school from a changing and growing community. My kids reflect their own diverse world.
My Project
In our inquiry-based classroom, students engage in authentic learning. Right now, to study our state, my fourth graders are researching our state's historic figures and events. The students are writing historical fiction, and they are making maps to show our state's geology and key features. For all of these projects, my students use Chromebooks.
Chromebooks are power tools for research, writing, and reading!
Using Chromebooks, students access the internet and take notes on their research. They compose essays and stories in programs shared with me, so that I can provide instant feedback. They collaborate on projects in group documents and insert maps and pictures into compositions. They borrow e-books from the school district and public libraries. Some students also use the Chromebooks to listen to audiobooks, if grade-level reading is still a challenge for them. The students use their Chromebooks every day. We would love to have one Chromebook for every student!
