Spring Break Care: Meeting More Than Academic Needs

Help me give my students food, hygiene products, light jackets, and learning activities to keep them healthy, warm, fed, and mentally stimulated during Spring Break!

My Project

My students are smart, caring, and resilient. They work hard in school and are developing so many academic and social/ emotional skills. Unfortunately, most of my students come from low-income families and many are newcomers (less than one year in the US). Despite this fact, they continue to thrive in school. Still, I would like to pour into my students and show they that I care for their academics and well-being, even when they are not in school.

I'd like to reward my learners for their hard work, make sure they have warmth and food at home, and ensure that they can remain stimulated in fun language learning activities at home.

Transitioning to Spring break can be tough for low income families. They may lose the structure and routine they had in school. Families may work late and may not be there to stimulate students. They may not have the two meals and snack that they receive during the school day. Additionally, they may not have learning activities at home to engage them, help them grow, and give them mental breaks from all of life's stress. In this package, I'd like to include jackets for a few families who requested them. This will promote outdoor play, during which they can engage in physical health activities. I have also included snacks to keep their tummies full and hygiene products for a few families who requested them. Please help me bring a smile to my learners' faces!

I would love to have this project funded by April 1st to give me enough time to prepare gifts before Spring break. However, care packages can be sent at any time afterwards if the project is not funded in time.
