My Students

My students come from vastly different backgrounds and life experiences. are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am ALWAYS looking to keep things simple and provide my students with a creative and meaningful learning experience

My students are a group of inquisitive and creative third graders who approach life and new concepts enthusiastically.

When returning to school from virtual learning, differentiating for the needs of the individual student will be incredibly important. Each family has had an unique venture throughout distance learning and COVID-19. I plan to meet each child where they are (wherever that may be!) as they shift to face to face learning hopefully.

My Project

My students often struggle with basic needs, including food. Food is a fundamental human right. I believe that everyone should have access to enough nutritious food to support a happy healthy life. People who are food insecure are more likely struggle in school and to be in poor health. A nation that allows 13% of its citizens to go hungry cannot achieve its full potential. Hunger is a formidable barrier to a person’s, and, by extension, our country’s prosperity.

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically increased food insecurity in our community.

This is why I have decided to spread the love of food with my students. How you may ask? I will deliver the snacks bi-weekly to the homes of my students with newsletters, work packets and an uplifting note. The snacks would provide food for their bellies and a peace of mind for them to know that they have food when they are hungry. The snacks would supplement what they would usually get while in school. Having these snacks maybe the only food they have during the day and the note to know how much they are loved.
