Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our middle school students are driven and dedicated. They come from diverse backgrounds, many of them learning English as a second language or coming from low income households. They meet the daily challenges of being a preteen/teenager in today's world head on.
Although they are strong willed and smart, like most middle schoolers, they need a creative outlet where they are free to be themselves and do what they love and can remove themselves from the seclusion of technology, social media and video games.
They are in need of positive collaboration and long lasting outcomes.
My Project
Middle school students will create murals around our campus using the paint and paintbrushes provided by Donors Choose funds. The murals, which share a positive message, will remind the students and their peers that everyone counts and everyone matters.
Through self expression, they will leave a little bit of themselves at the school and create a positive, accepting environment for future students.
The Mural Project will give middle school students a creative outlet and pull them away for the dangers and challenges of social media and help them interact and collaborate with their classmates. Character education, learning about, pride, good work ethic, integrity and responsibility will help to form a foundation for their future.
