My Students

As the school social worker, I mainly work with students who are Diverse Learners and who often times have limited resources outside of school. I work closely with other school staff and the students' families to provide the wrap around support needed in order for them to achieve their academic potential.

Despite the numerous challenges they face, I am continually inspired by the perseverance and growth that my students show week after week.

They are what keeps me going amidst difficult work conditions and fatigue!

My Project

It is imperative that schools do all we can to make sure students have what they need to be safe and well-prepared to learn when they come in the building each day. Many of the students I work with walk or take public transportation in order to get to school, meaning they are frequently exposed to harsh winter conditions. A student who does not have appropriate cold-weather protection might dread coming to school in the morning and, on the coldest days, may be unable to come to school all-together.

Hats, mittens, scarves, and warm socks are small articles of clothing but can make a big difference in a student's health and safety throughout the winter months.

The more comfortable a student is coming into school, the better prepared they are to be an engaged student the rest of the day.
