Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are full of energy and curiosity! They are five and six year olds who come to school excited to learn. I try to make learning fun and engaging as they learn through play. For some of my students kindergarten is their first school experience which means that they come with different skills and abilities.
I believe that every child can learn at their own developmental pace.
My goal as their teacher is to provide engaging and challenging learning experiences in a positive and safe environment.
My Project
Reading is a process that entails key skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. I'm requesting fun nonfiction books for reading levels in Pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade. I'll use these books to teach early-reading skills during small-group reading.
These books will increase their confidence with rebus picture support, patterned text structures, repeated high-frequency words, and consistent print placement.
I'd like to use high-interest, real-world topics with engaging photos and expose them to important vocabulary. These books will also be a great way to introduce them to nonfiction at an early age. Some of the books included are: Animal Tongues, B Is for Babies, Butterfly in the Garden. My students will be excited to read!
