This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy," Ludwig van Beethoven. My class enjoys listening to music - to relax, to celebrate, and to learn. During a typical day we sing one to three songs. We need an Ipod!

I teach thirty first graders in a K-8 school.

Since these children will be together for so many years, we have established a real community of learners. These are students who cheer each others accomplishments. They help one another when necessary. They are truly a joy to teach.

My Project

Throughout the day, we sing songs about math, seasons, the alphabet and more. Last year, my class sang two songs at a school wide holiday concert. But I had to borrow another teacher's personal I pod docking station to do so. We plan to sing on Multicultural Day and at the Spring Concert. We need to practice for concerts and our annual dance performance! Thanks to donorschoose, a sound system with an I pod docking station is on its way to our classroom. Now we just need the iPod. When students come to school in the morning and after lunch, they enjoy listening to classical music. The iPod will enable the children to enjoy the relaxing music on a daily basis.

The IPod will allow my students to listen and appreciate classical music daily.

It will also enable us to practice singing for school-wide singing and dancing performances. We appreciate your support with this project. There have been drastic cuts to education budgets, particularly in the art and music areas. Without your support my students will not have the opportunity to listen to various musical genres.
