Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are pre-kindergarten through fifth graders who are full of energy. They visit the gym multiple times per week for a scheduled special. In addition, teachers send students to the gym for recess and character education activities as well as to mentor younger students. The students have adapted to the challenges thrown at them and are not only surviving but thriving in this very different environment. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love playing different sports and learning about the positive impact movement have on their bodies minds not only in the gym but across all the disciplines. There are over 900 students in our school! I have a large population of English language learners, many newcomers to the country this year. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are both general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!
One kid can make a difference, but when kids work together, the impact can be even greater.
Last year, my amazing students participated in community service projects for World Kindness Day. They expressed interest in conducting more kindness projects this year and they are taking the lead, they just need your help to provide the much-needed materials as part of their projects. Their plan is to spread kindness by making up little treat bags and writing messages, since World Kindness has passed, one of the students thought of the idea Random Acts of Kindness, so they are requesting items to make up the treat bags that they decorate such as Oreos, chips, candy, stickers, markers, pens, post its, etc. The idea is to randomly spread kindness throughout the entire school community with these treats and messages.
