My Students

Our school is located in the inner city with underprivileged families striving for a better life. Single parents, grandparents, and older siblings continue to do their very best to instill a better way of living for their families. They face many challenges, but that doesn't impede them from wanting to learn or stop them from dreaming big.

We are 95% African American, 2% Haitian American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian, with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Teachers create a safe, fun, and empowering classroom for our students to help them thrive in all areas of their lives. I love our students and spend most of my out-of-the-classroom time developing projects to enhance their learning and well-being.

My Project

"Students in the middle grades should have extracurricular opportunities, ways for them to get involved in activities that give them a sense of being part of a team, and a sense of accomplishing something,"

Our middle school kids love to play sports and all these balls will create opportunities for them.

They have limited resources at home but are great kids to work with. The balls at our school have seen better days and are in need of repair and replacement. We are requesting a variety of different types of balls to help us become better athletes which will help students with attitude, camaraderie, and general sportsmanship.

Participation in sports can help build self-esteem and confidence, can motivate students to excel academically, and can help build social skills. Participation also can teach students the benefits of goal-setting and practice.
