This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come to us with many hardships in their life ( i.e poverty, foster situations, refugee population, incarcerated parents, etc). We strive to make school a safe haven and a predictable place for our students to grow and thrive. We believe every student can learn when given the right tools and great teaching - and they have proven that point time and time again. Our students are masters of perseverance and grit, and I am so proud of them every single day!
My Project
Sports has a way of bringing the best out of students. It closes the space between people and creates a family-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, sports equipment is very expensive and due to a limited budget - we rarely have enough equipment for the number of students we are serving. We have been really been encouraging students to be involved in as many activities as possible, and that has increased our numbers for our sports programs - which is great! Being able to supply enough equipment to have a meaningful practice will certainly help those students be successful in the activity, which in turn will make them successful in their academic career.
