This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are interested in sports, athletes, cooking, rocks/minerals, painting, and nature. Our school library is in need of these updated non-fiction topics. As the school's library specialist, I enjoy fostering a love of books and reading in my students. It is also important to listen to my students when they share what kinds of books they enjoy and the topics that they are interested in.

Providing students with literacy topics that interest them increases their desire to read, promotes independence, boosts self-esteem, and enhances critical thinking and decision-making skills.
