it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For many of my students, my small classroom library is their only access to free reading books. This library is more than just a collection—it's a gateway to new worlds, a vital resource that nurtures their academic growth and personal development.
These books speak to their sense of adventure, providing the thrill they crave while encouraging them to read.
At this age, reading can unlock creativity, critical thinking, and empathy. By providing captivating books, we’re not just supporting their education—we’re shaping their futures.
Thrillers and horror novels are especially popular with my students. These genres not only grab their attention but also challenge their thinking. Expanding our selection within this genre can transform reading from a chore into a passion.
My middle school boys, in particular, are often reluctant to choose a free reading book, but when they do, it’s usually a horror novel. These books speak to their sense of adventure, providing the thrill they crave while encouraging them to read. Even though they might pick these books because they think they’re 'tough,' what they’re really doing is discovering the excitement of reading.
Refreshing the library will encourage students to explore new titles and keep them engaged. Every book is an opportunity for a student to grow, learn, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
By supporting this effort, you’re not just helping a classroom—you’re empowering students to dream, think, and succeed. Let’s ensure they have access to books that will open their minds to endless possibilities. Your support will make a lasting impact on their lives.
