My Project

Over my years of teaching, I have tried various methods in our morning routines ranging from morning work, free play, and guided activities. I have found the most effective way to start our day is a “soft start”. Meaning students will be given structured free play using stem materials to promote creativity, providing social skills practice, and enhance academic development through play-based learning activities.

My goal with this project is to have enough building materials for students to have the opportunity to rotate through activities throughout the week and have exposure to new stem toys they may not have access to at home.

I have found that a “soft start” in the classroom has benefited my classroom management as the students are able to acclimate to the school setting and create a positive environment for students to be successful.
