My Students

My school is home to just over 300 students in rural Utah. We pride ourselves on our small class size and attention to small learning groups. As a public charter school, we hold a random lottery when admitting new students. We have recently enrolled a larger number of students requiring special education, and struggling learners who have not had their needs met at the local public schools in one way or another, so we are excited to try to meet their needs in many new ways! We work together as a family-type team to provide access to more updated materials to all of our elementary students. We hope that through donorschoose.org, we can fund some of our classroom needs to provide all students with a successful learning environment! Thank you so much for your consideration.

My Project

I feel that incorporating this research-based practice into my classroom will increase student attentiveness, focus, drive, and independence. My students will be excited to come to school to learn because it will be fun to choose an interactive seat option. With an ever-changing society, we need to meet the needs of our current learners and empower them to become future leaders. If a child cannot focus due to traditional seating, but could thrive with alternative seating options, then we should include such options in our classrooms. Also, these seating options will be usable year after year, so all 52 fourth graders EVERY YEAR will benefit from my classroom seating since we rotate for reading, math, science, and history. I'm excited to do my part by changing my classroom to allow more flexibility and creativity in the classroom!

Imagine being an elementary student walking into a classroom full of T-stools, plastic stools, wobble cushions, web chairs, and camping chairs!

With so many new and updated seating options, you are excited to choose one that helps you learn best! Maybe you'll choose a plastic stool or a camping chair to help improve your focus. The web chairs allow for some movement, so if you need to wiggle a little bit to learn best, you can! For my most active learners, the wobble cushions or T-stools allow for maximum movement while remaining at your area. With these simple materials, my students will have maximum learning potential!
