My Project
I absolutely love my preschool students because of their boundless curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Every day, they come to school excited to explore new things, ask questions, and discover the world around them. They’re naturally curious, and I want to nurture that curiosity by providing them with the best resources possible to spark their love of learning.
We currently do not have any outside toys other than a few bicycles, and I would love to be able to use these materials to enhance STEM learning on the playground as the weather gets nicer.
Water play is one of the most effective ways to engage young learners. Not only does it offer endless fun, but it also introduces key concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). With the addition of these items, my students will have the opportunity to explore concepts like cause and effect, volume, and flow, all while having a blast. For example, they’ll be able to experiment with pouring, measuring, and scooping, building early math skills in a hands-on and exciting way. These toys will also promote fine motor skills, as students will practice their hand-eye coordination and dexterity while manipulating the water toys.
The benefits of water play extend far beyond just STEM skills. The interactive nature of water play encourages teamwork and social skills, as children collaborate and share resources with their peers. It also fosters sensory development, as children explore different textures, temperatures, and sensations. By adding this new water wall to our outdoor space, I’m confident that my students will not only deepen their understanding of STEM concepts but also develop essential social, emotional, and motor skills that will benefit them for years to come.
