My students need a place to sit and read in the library. The 1950s style furniture needs updating. I am requesting 7 colorful chairs to create a bright, reading area.

My Students
Can I just sit and read? Sure, sit at a table and read. 1950s hard chairs with hard tables just don't make it appealing to relax and read. In fact, the one couch in the room has a broken leg that has been repaired so many times, no amount of nailing and glue will hold it in place.
Our Title I school serves over 1,000 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
The average sixth grader has a lexile level under 500 meaning they are reading well below grade level. Part of the Media Center's commitment is to see every student in the building on a two week rotating basis.
My Project
We need 7 new chairs for the students. Students use the Media Center all day. Early morning, before school starts, students rush in to sit for a few minutes with friends or look for a new book. Throughout the day, classes come in to check out books, study, research, work on group projects, use the computers, and just sit with friends when permitted. The new furniture will be both attractive and functional.
It is a constant challenge to encourage students to use the Media Center and be comfortable surrounded by books.
We have a special reading area filled with graphic novels. With new attractive furniture, students can sit in comfort and enjoy the special reading area.
