Over half of the students in my district come from low income households. Being a part of extracurricular activities usually isn’t an option for them, due to the costs associated with participating.
Even though life has "tossed" my students lots of curveballs, they have never given up!
In spite of all the financial challenges my students face, I LOVE their tenacity and dedication. It's been a joy to watch them work together and create a sense of family.
My Project
Our high school's Color Guard has tripled in size in just one year! I'm excited about the enthusiasm for our performance art but concerned about how I will provide equipment for all of the participants. Each week you will find the Color Guard with the Bulldog Marching Band, performing at half-time during Friday night football games. They also compete with the band in their marching band competitions throughout the fall season. During the spring semester, the Color Guard also competes in Winter Guard competitions. Carrying the colors at parades, cheering at pep rallies, performing for the community--this group really does it all! They are talented, bright, and busy, and they never miss an opportunity to perform. Despite their growth in numbers, enthusiasm, and talent, our Color Guard is still lacking in one major area...funding!
When you donate to this project, you will help my students spin, toss, and catch their way to success!
My students are in need of new color guard rifles for the 2019-2020 school year. Funding from our school is very limited, and our local businesses have given all they can afford to give. With your help and the help of DonorsChoose.org, they can Spin to Win!
