Spicing Up our Reading Center

My project needs a book shelf to display books of related topics during class studies, a rug to create an inviting atmosphere for students to enjoy silent reading, and 4 throw pillows for students to cuddle with or lie on while reading silently.

This project is fully funded

I work at a Title I elementary school teaching second grade. Each day my students have an opportunity to have self-selected reading time. This time allows them to have free opportunity to any reading materials in the classroom and they are given time to explore and read books of their choice. Many of these students do not have resources in their own homes to be able to relax and enjoy. I want to create an atmosphere where my students can come to the floor and cuddle up with a good book. Providing them with a fun interactive rug and colorful pillows would be enticing for my students to jump right into reading. We all need our own special reading space and I want to give that to my students to enjoy from year to year. A book shelf would allow me to display books relating to specific themes, whether it be seasonal books about pumpkins or books about the different animal life cycles. Right now my reading center is not as appealing as I would like it to be. With the help of donations I hope to spice it up to where it would make all my students race to read books year after year at an awesome reading center. You can help motivate and encourage students to read daily and help make their experience cozy and enjoyable. Thank you for your time and for caring about today's kids and educators!!
