Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The integration of programmable STEM robots into our educational curriculum, promises to revolutionize the learning experience for my students with disabilities. These robots allow for hands-on exploration, fostering a deeper understanding of STEM concepts and cultivating essential skills for success in the twenty-first century workforce. These robots offer endless possibilities for customization and experimentation, allowing students to design, build, and program their own creations. Through this process, they develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills as they navigate challenges and iterate on their designs.

My students with Autism will work together with neurotypical students to program their robots to complete simple tasks.

The collaborative nature of working with STEM robots promotes teamwork and communication skills. Through these interactions, they learn to effectively communicate ideas, share responsibilities, and leverage each other's strengths, a vital skill set for success in any field.

Moreover, STEM robots offer a bridge between abstract concepts and real-world applications. Students can see the direct impact of their coding and engineering efforts as they witness their robots come to life, navigate mazes, solve puzzles, or perform tasks. This tangible feedback not only reinforces learning, but also sparks curiosity and inspires further exploration.

Access to programmable STEM robots also fosters inclusivity and equity in STEM education. These tools engage students from diverse backgrounds by providing a hands-on, accessible entry point into the world of technology and engineering. By removing barriers to participation and fostering a culture of inclusion, we ensure that all students have the opportunity to explore their interests and potential in STEM fields.
