Help me give my students the help they need with coding. These little balls will keep my students actively working on their coding skills and honing their creativity.

My Students

Our school has the highest ESL population in our district. 33% of our students see English as their second language. Both parents usually work and do not speak English so there is little or no support from home for homework.

Teachers are their only English contact and the only place where they can learn academics.

Students depend on us to give them an education without help from outside sources.

School is their only learning environment in English. They depend on teachers to provide the best academic environment that they can. Teachers need every minute to count because it is the student's only chance at learning.

Story problems are especially hard because of the comprehension in English that is required to understand what is needed to solve the problem

My Project

I have chosen to purchase five Sphero balls. Students can use a tablet to move the robot around the room using their own creativity or using the app with a series of activities. The students will do this literally self-guided on their own.

These balls can be programmed with a free app to do amazing things by fourth graders with little or no teacher intervention!

It is literally a self-guided activity that teaches along the way.

The students will literally teach themselves how to do it. My students will learn to code and be able to instantly see how their coding is working. This will enable them to receive immediate feedback and understand what they need to work on and where they are doing terrific.
