My Students
My school provides a rigorous and safe learning environment for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. Three-quarters of my school's population receives free or reduced-price lunches.
We are located in rural Arkansas where the majority of my students have limited access to new technology.
My students are creative, smart, and love to solve problems. I am the school's Gifted and Talented Coordinator and K-6 STEAM teacher. I love providing opportunities for my students to shine through new experiences. My goal is to create an environment that fosters their creativity and boost their confidence.
My Project
My students love playing with Rubik's cubes. I see many students playing with them during lunch and at recess. However, very few of them have the knowledge to solve the cube.
Learning how to solve a Rubik's cube is possible for any level of learner.
I want to teach my students the algorithms to be successful in solving the cube. It will teach them to have a growth mindset because it will take time to learn the strategies. It will also foster teamwork in my classroom because they will help each other complete the various steps it takes to solve the cube.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
