it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist working in the Bronx for District 75 for students ranging from 5-12 years of age. I support students with significant challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cognitive delays, and Sensory impairments. I love that I am the guiding path for my students to communicate with peers and adults. I know first-hand that ensuring kids are getting the services they need is imperative to their success in school. My students come from different cultures, and backgrounds. They love hands-on engaging activities that pique their interest!
My Project
These materials will help my students learning by making our individual and group sessions fun, engaging and interactive! I will adapt and modify the books with AAC picture cues to help target the students' learning outcomes. The games will help target social pragmatic skills by engaging the students in topic conversation, taking turns, and topic maintenance. The Spanish books will help bilingual students follow along with their peers while targeting functional communication and exposing students to core words. My students love books and fun games to keep them intrigued and learning during our sessions!
