Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist, I work with students that have communication needs and also oftentimes have other disabilities such as autism and developmental delay, to name a couple. I am responsible for making sure that they have a voice, whether it is serving them virtually or face-to-face. Working with my students, I had learned that they communicated more when we were being creative and using hands-on activities. With your help, this will be made possible for my students this school year.
My Project
While taking part in teletherapy and face to face therapy, I still like to make it enjoyable and fun. Due to COVID-19, each child must have their own supplies which means we can not share things like scissors to complete the task. Also, the mini erasers will be used as a game piece. The sensory toys will be used for the students that I serve that has autism that may need that sensory input during therapy. Lastly, the pencil cases will be used to separate each of the student's supplies.
