This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have needs in the area of speech and language. They require specialized instruction from a speech-language pathologist to support areas related to understanding language, using language, and language in social contexts. My students have a strong desire to learn and improve their overall language skills. To ensure my students have the strongest enriching learning possible, I am in need of additional materials. My students will benefit from the materials regarding context clues, inferencing, figurative language (idioms), and targeted workbooks relating to comprehension.

A lack of active student engagement is a strong barrier to the improvement of language skills.

I have chosen engaging materials that will support active participation during therapy groups. These engaging materials are not limited to games, buzzers, and whiteboards. Having materials that my students have expressed interest in will improve speech and language goals by keeping my students engaged throughout their time in speech therapy!
