COVID-19 drastically impacted the ability of students to receive quality speech therapy. They missed over a year of critical development time. Now that they are back in school I have seen a dramatic decrease in their ability to focus and a negative impact on the mental health of many of my students.
Due to the speech room being used for students ages 3-14, seating that is appropriate for all of their sizes is a challenge.
My students already come to my room with a difficult time focusing and being in chairs that are not adequate only makes it harder. Wobble stools will fit the needs of my students better than the chairs that are currently in my speech room, which are made specifically for only 3rd to 4th-grade students. Appropriate seating will help my speech students to focus on the activities that specifically target their individual needs and will expedite the learning of communication skills.
