Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am the only speech therapist in my school and I service a large school. My students range from preschool to fifth grade, both general education and special education. The goals for each of my students are specific and unique to that child. I need materials that are fun and engaging while also being able to modify the activity for each child in order to promote their speech and language success. My young students would benefit from materials like the Alphabet Rockets and Melissa and Doug Nesting and Sorting Blocks which provide visuals for nouns, adjectives, and their usage can also target prepositions and sentence formulation. Materials like the magnetic builders and kinetic sand target a variety of verbs and help children explore language in a play-based setting.
