This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently teaching in a self-contained special education preschool classroom for students with Autism or related developmental delays. They are such wonderful tiny humans and I'm lucky to be able to work with such amazing kids.

My students are all 3-4 years-old and have Autism - most of them are non-verbal and are working on basic functional learning skills and every day living skills.

I love working with them and seeing their growth and progress everyday.

I've been working online with them since August 2020. Tthere are a lot of supplies that I need and that would create an engaging and fun learning environment for my little people.

My Project

I want to help my students with their complex learning and communication needs. These recordable buttons will be used as speech generating devices for my students to use single words and make choices. It will help prepare them for more advance communication devices in the future.

My students come to me at age 3 often with little or no communication - these recordable buttons will be used as speech generating devices to help them use single words and make choices throughout their day.

I will use these to help my students communicate their wants and needs. They will use these to say things such as, "my turn", "help", "go", "more", "stop", and ask for preferred objects.
