it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students with speech and language delays, largely caused or exacerbated by COVID-19, are in dire need of speech therapy! The materials and supplies I am requesting aim to bridge these gaps in communication in a fun way. In my therapy room, I will primarily be using games, books, and crafts to target a variety of speech and language goals.
Books are a great tool for building vocabulary and comprehension skills while offering a comforting and familiar activity.
They can also help re-establish routines and encourage a love for reading.
Games are particularly effective for engaging students and making therapy sessions enjoyable. They provide a playful context for practicing speech and language skills, which can be especially motivating for students who may feel discouraged by the challenges they've faced during the pandemic. Interactive games also promote social skills and turn-taking, which are crucial for re-integrating students into group settings.
Craft supplies support hands-on activities that can make abstract concepts more concrete. Crafting encourages fine motor skills and offers a creative outlet for expressing ideas, which can be beneficial for language development and emotional expression.
Together, these supplies will help create a dynamic and supportive therapy environment, addressing both the educational and emotional needs of students as they work to recover from the impacts of the pandemic. I’m confident these resources will be a valuable addition to our efforts.
