Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come from many different cultures. Each student has a unique story and deserves the chance to have a voice to share experiences, struggles and accomplishments. I specifically chose culturally relevant materials that would help inspire my students, all of whom are diagnosed with a disability. These materials will be used during speech-language therapy sessions for students with various needs, such as autism, learning disabilities and ADD.
Students with various disabilities can improve their literacy skills while engaging in high level discussions when provided with meaningful and motivational stories.
The lessons learned through the fictional stories and biographies will be used to inspire students to create their own personal alpha-biographies throughout the school year to share their voices.
