Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with students ages 3 to 13 (preschool to 8th grade), addressing a variety of speech and language needs. These students attend Title 1 schools, meaning many come from under-resourced backgrounds, yet they work incredibly hard to overcome the challenges they face.
I support students in both general education settings and high-needs students in cluster (self-contained) classrooms, helping them access their education by addressing their speech and language needs.
These resources allow me to provide engaging and effective therapy to the most deserving kids!
Books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and The Crayons Trick or Treat are excellent for targeting both expressive and receptive language skills. I will use these books to help students practice identifying and describing objects, answering WH- questions, and expanding their vocabulary!
The reusable sticker books will be a versatile tool, helping me target language goals such as prepositional phrases, pronouns, or basic concepts. The Webber articulation decks will support students in improving overall intelligibility by targeting specific sounds and will allow me to travel between schools much more efficiently with my materials.
Sequencing cards can target key language skills such as appropriate syntax (present progressive -ing, past tense verbs, etc.) or narrative retelling, while fun games like Pop-Up Pirate will keep therapy sessions enjoyable and give my students something to look forward to!
Finally, I am requesting plastic bins, as they will help organize therapy tools and create sensory bins.
These materials will make therapy more engaging and impactful for my students. I truly appreciate any support you can offer in helping me create a better learning environment!
