Help me give my students an environment conducive to learning. The quiet, oscillating tower fan will help us in the upcoming heat to be comfortable in our speech room while we teach and learn.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I service students with all different developmental levels who come from all different cultural backgrounds and income levels. No matter what their story is, they are welcomed with open arms into my office to work toward their individual goals in order to progress in their educational careers.
In my room, we target expressive and receptive language, articulation, phonemic awareness, daily living skills, and pragmatic skills.
I strive, as their SLP, to make them feel proud for showing even the smallest improvement, and if no improvement is being seen, I still like to positively acknowledge their willingness and drive to try.
My Project
Our speech room needs a little spicing up!
My scholars are anxious to engage in new games and continue to learn via engaging, hands-on ways.
The dry erase circles will allow students to jot down questions during lessons, write their answers during group activities, and keep score during friendly competitions.
A rolling cart will allow us to store our new materials effectively, with easy access to dry erase markers, sticky notes and paper whenever it's needed—without hesitation.
And who could forget the snacks?! My scholars earn speech bucks throughout each session and have the opportunity to "buy" a snack from my snack bin every time they reach $5. Needless to say, good behavior is rewarded with tangible reinforcement, and it's a successful method to handling the madness that may arise in our fun and engaging speech room.
