Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is newly added Level 4, self-contained, special education class. This class is specifically for students with moderate to severe disabilities. All of my students communicate primarily with their iPads and/or sign. Students are primarily working in cooperative learning activities geared toward simple work tasks, life skills, and social/emotional skills. Our students will work well with adaptive flexible seating for sensory needs as well as calming strategies.
One of our biggest goals for our group is to work on completing small tasks within the classroom to branch out to a running a student-ran enterprise across our campus to continue working on functional work skills and their social skills.
Our students are a unique group of students that need opportunities to play a bigger part in their school community.
