Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We're a Title I school in El Paso, Texas with high rates of mobility, poverty and 83% of students on free or reduced lunch. I am a Special Education teacher that will be moved in the 2019-20 school year, to a new self-contained class for students that need a modified curriculum.
I am MOVING to a new self-contained unit with severe learning disabilities, help me be ready for my new students!
Our city's recent tragedy will be on all students' minds, I hope this project will help them and keep them focused on learning as much as possible! I know it won't be easy for any of us, but I will try my best. With your help, I know we can. I am going to meet my new students soon, but I want to be ready for them. I am super excited to be back in a self-contained classroom.
My Project
Our school is a Pre-Engineering geared middle school that emphasizes STEM curriculum for our students, but my students need a modified curriculum that makes it difficult for them to fully participate in that advanced learning.
SPED or not, my students will be Pre-Engineering Pros!
Having Fire tablets will increase the accessibility they have to be able to learn more about STEM. The Osmo kits paired with the Fire tablets will make it easier for my students to learn coding and more at their pace. The Snap Circuits are great for learning and practicing building real electrical circuits. The Ozobot and Mecanno robot will help them actually build and code a droid that can be programmed to do tasks. The flying drone will further help them cement those coding and programming skills.
