This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the honor of working with some very sweet exceptional education students. Our school is in a low income area, but you would never know that by talking to them. They want to learn and thrive with their education. While exceptional education is a priority, it is one of the most expensive interventions in public schools. We need all the help we can get with supplying our students with the tools they need.

These kids have the biggest hearts and the biggest desire to learn about other students their age.

Helping to provide them with a safe place to learn is my number one goal. Providing them with the tools they need to learn is my number two. If you feel compelled to help, please know your gift will go a long way.

My Project

As a special education or in Nashville exceptional education teacher, we do not get provided supplies from parents. We have to spend our own money to buy large lined paper, pencils, and dry erase markers and boards. Many of the materials such as brother printer ink to print off papers for my students and their IEP's, lamination sheets to provide durable hands on resources, crayons, glue sticks, makers, and construction paper for the student come from my own pocket. The games provide an active learning environment, in which, is fun and exciting! Games like Spellagator, CVC blocks, and swat a word help with CVC words and sounding out each letter. They build independence by having hands on materials such as the square panda as well

My students with special needs have their own requirements.

They need weighed blankets and weighted toys for sensory needs. The puppets provide a calming environment in which the students can talk and have fun.

These resources are things we would use on a daily basis. They also are materials in which, would make a plain lesson fun and exciting!
