Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an energetic bunch! They are full of curiosity and keep me on my toes.
They are special because they, like anyone, have the desire to communicate, but may have some difficulty at times.
My students live in a lower socioeconomic area and some of the parents do not speak or read fluent English to know what their rights are to ask for help. Besides their current situation, my students have shown me that they have the potential to be very successful if they have a communication tool to "bridge the gap". My students love to express themselves through music, dancing and art. They love to share what they can do to others, because like everyone, they just want to connect.
My Project
I am hoping to introduce more art projects to my special ed students. They love to paint, but we are in an area where we cannot afford what we need to do art projects regularly. I would love to have my students create projects that can be posted around the campus so that others can see how talented and expressive my students can be. Having fun activities also makes learning letters exciting for my students. I want to also have this equipment to create opportunities for my students to have inclusion activities with their general education peers on campus. You can help.
