My class is in need of some basic supplies and instruments. Recently, we have received some high-quality xylophones and handbells through DonorsChoose. In order to protect these instruments, we need dust covers for our xylophones and cases for our handbells. Your donation would allow us to protect these instruments and make them last as long as possible.
We use activity mats daily in music class but do not have enough mats for everyone to use.
For example, we use circle mats on top of our bucket drums to dampen the sound. We do not have enough mats for everyone to have a mat for his/her drum. Your donation would allow everyone to have a mat to use at one time.
Another item we need is a classroom set of lummi sticks. We use rhythm sticks often in kindergarten and first grade to practice the steady beat and rhythm. Lummi sticks, similar to rhythm sticks, are chunkier and smaller than rhythm sticks. They are a better alternative to rhythm sticks for younger students with smaller hands.
In early childhood classes, we do a lot of vocal exploration. Vocal exploration helps students find their singing voice and learn how to better control it. A slide whistle is an instrument that demonstrates sounds that students can mimic vocally. Kids love the sounds the whistle makes and enthusiastically try to recreate the sounds. I would be thrilled to have one of these whistles for my students. Thank you for your consideration in donating to this project.
