My students need engaging books that will keep them interested and help them with their reading skills. We do not have traditional desks so we need book bins to store them in.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live the great city of Detroit and are in a low-income/high poverty school district. They are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite this, they are craving to learn more about the world around them.
They come from many cultures and speak many languages, we have Arabic speakers, Spanish speakers, and Romanian speakers.
Most of my students do not have assess to quality books at home, and we do not have a library at my school. My students want to learn and explore the world. They are a great group of kids who love coming to school each day.
My Project
I am requesting a classroom library and book bins for my students. We currently have a small portion of books that they have already read through. They are always wanting to learn more and more, we need more books to help with our literacy skills. I am asking for books for our classroom library. These books will be used to help my students learn to be come better readers and help them expand their world.
My students are from all over the world, I have Yemeni refugees, students who are immigrants from Mexico and Romania, and African American students.
We are a multicultural room that is in need of seeing books where we can identify with the characters.
