Spectacular Science Camp Experience

My Students

Our school serves students from transitional kindergarten through 5th grade. The student body includes about 450 students altogether. The student body is widely diverse, and 55% of the students come from low-income families. Our school is a Title l school.

My fifth-grade class includes 34 fabulous, inquisitive and hardworking learners.

Our classroom setting includes students with different interests, experiences, learning styles and needs. Students work together to build a unique classroom environment in which all learners have a voice that is not only heard but also highly valued.

We work together to create a comfortable school environment in which students look forward to coming each day to develop their academic and social skills. Students are supported as they push themselves academically and socially and monitor their own progress across the school year.

My Project

5th grade is an exciting year at our elementary school! My 34 eager learners have entered their final year of elementary school and part of our tradition as 5th graders is to participate in an overnight camping experience.

As a Title 1 school, some of our families are unable to afford the cost of this camping trip, therefore we are fundraising so that all students who want to participate are able to do so.

Camp Pali is the first trip away from home for many of our students, and this year we are striving to send all 54 of our 5th graders to camp, and we need a little financial help getting there.

Students will be transported to a magical world of nature and science for four days and three nights. They will participate in a wide variety of science classes in a diverse and inclusive setting where they will learn about the different branches of science. From building rockets to solving forensic crimes, students will engage with science on a completely new and exciting level. At night, students will partake in courses that are unimaginable in the busy city setting. From nature walks to learning about constellations, this experience is breathtakingly beautiful and unique.

Camp Pali is also a fantastic opportunity for students to form bonds and connect with one another. This teamwork aligns directly to our yearlong focus on promoting social emotional learning.
