My Project

My fourth grade students are hard workers that like to read. They enjoy reading in our cozy library area and reading with a partner. However, they still struggle with comprehension and fluency. They were in first grade when the pandemic started and went to online learning at a crucial time in their reading journey. Their schooling was further interrupted the next year with pandemic quarantines.

To help my students continue to progress as readers, they need more interactive reading center materials that they can use independently, with partners, and in small group interventions.

They love anything hands on or game based and love to learn about nonfiction topics. These reading center materials will help my students be engaged while working on their reading abilities and skills. Through these materials, I will be able to meet the unique reading needs of all of my students and continue to foster a love of reading that will help create lifetime readers.
